And from my research, they most likely worked alongside each other as publicans in Belmont Lancashire. I’d be working away on my Adam Helme and get horribly off the track onto Adam Longworth. Mind bending stuff.
I went around and around, always coming back to the same place, pretty much lost in the woods.
I laid it all out on a white board with the details for each person on post it notes. Only then did I start to get to know these people as people and not just another Adam or Mary.
I ran into a few head scratching moments when I got started, okay, more than a few moments. Near tore my hair out!
You see, my great-great grandparents were both called Adam and Mary… on both the Longworth and the Helme sides.
The two Adams were about the same age, as were the two Marys. They died at about the same time… and they lived in the same county in the UK.
Then the eureka moment. The moment that got me out of my chair,
somersaulting across the room… they were all related… all shared great grandparents.
